Armageddon 2009 - Friday

  • Oct. 23rd, 2009 at 12:03 PM
Oh no.. it's embarrassing how long it's been since I've posted anything on here.  *kicks RL*

Anyway, if I'm going to make the first post in ages, it may as well be a con report!  Woot!  Joe Flanigan, Jason Momoa, Paul McGillion, Christopher Heyerdahl, Gigi Edgley, Cameron Bright, to name a few.  Two days (and the cocktail party Friday night, for those that went), enough to bring out the inner geek in most of us.  My outer geek too, for that matter.  Con report follows.. some pics and linkage at the end.

Poem Meme

  • Jan. 19th, 2009 at 8:16 AM
I saw Alipeeps entry on this meme, and couldn't resist!  I had trouble choosing a favourite, though.  I finally chose Inchcape Rock, by Robert Southey.  I also posted the runner up, The Skeleton in Armour, by Longfellow, and my favourite poem as a child, The Tale of Custard the Dragon, by Nash - it's just such a cute little poem, I still love it!

Gearing Up

  • May. 28th, 2008 at 12:41 AM

This is just a little character study, born out of a reflection of how their place in the team and on Atlantis is dependent on their perspective.  I found it while rummaging around my ideas and incomplete folder, so I thought I'd share.  Thanks go to Linzi for helping me fix my tense problems. :D

What do you think when you hear 'Australia'?

  • Mar. 14th, 2008 at 10:46 AM
I was over in the 'Calling All Australians' thread in GW, and the topic of what people in other countries think about Australia came up.  One is always curious to know what others think of one's own country.  So a few of us decided to ask out flists what they think when they hear the word 'Australia'.  What comes to your mind?  Is it good?  Bad?  Possibly indifferent?  Do you think of the geography, the politics, or the god-awful soaps we've dropped on your poor, unsuspecting tv networks?  Let me know- what do you think?

A secret santa fic for rhymer23.  The prompt was:

Since it's Christmas, I want to wallow in self-indulgent heroism. Not for me a Shep who falls over on page one and lies there unconscious while everyone else does the cool stuff. No, I want a Shep who heroically staggers on and does the day-saving, despite injury. Bonus points if the others don't know he's injured until near the end, as long as the justification for this isn't too contrived. No vomiting, please. Heroes don't vomit. Heroes only have picturesque injuries that allow heroism to continue, albeit with a pained and self-sacrificing stagger.

I hope you like my interpretation of the prompt. :D
